According to Northampton Community College’s (NCC) most recent placement report, 91% of the responding graduates were either employed or continuing their education. Some programs boast a 100% placement rate, including AppliedQualityandStandards, Automotive Technology-ASE Technicians, Construction Management, and HVAC and Refrigeration. Finding auto service shops willing to give students hands-on, under-the-hood experience can be difficult.In a program set up between Brown Daub Chevrolet  and NCC, students alternate between college and hands- on experience at a sponsoring worksite,where students get acclimated to the dealership in all aspects of customer service. By the time they’re finished with their schooling at NCC, Brown Daub Chevy will have a graduate who is 80% trained as a GM technician. Jack Dungan, service manager at Brown Daub Chevy, hopes other dealerships will adopt the program, which he believes will promote more loyalty and less job-hopping. “We know they’re being taught well at NCC. Andwehavegreatretentionofourtechnicians who start as interns,”says Dungan. “I often get calls from dealerships asking for a recent graduate,” says Warren Farnell, NCC’s Director of Automotive Technology. “I laugh and have to explain to them that our graduates enjoy a 100 percent employment rate at graduation!” Placing students in jobs before graduation
